Animal Instincts Australia offers animal, equine, and nature programs across two Queensland locations: Darling Downs (Toowoomba) and Lockyer Valley (Blenheim). We focus on fostering community connection, building relationships, and enhancing social participation for individuals and groups in various industries.
Our programs feature a unique model where participants engage with rescue animals, often fostered or adopted through local Animal Rescue Organizations. Clients have the rewarding opportunity to work alongside these animals, often helping them transition into forever homes. At Animal Instincts Australia, our mission is to empower individuals and groups by providing transformative animal and equine-assisted experiences that foster personal growth, healing, and resilience. We create safe, supportive spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, develop essential life skills, and overcome personal and collective challenges. Our programs serve children, adults, diverse individuals, and those from a variety of backgrounds, helping them build confidence, self-awareness, and emotional balance. We also extend our services to larger groups and organizations, offering corporate workshops, leadership training, and team-building experiences. By combining evidence-based practices with the natural wisdom of nature and animals, we aim to enhance communication, cooperation, and emotional intelligence in teams, supporting both personal and professional development. Our purpose is to create meaningful change not only on an individual level but within broader communities and industries. We believe that the powerful connection between humans, nature and animals can inspire positive transformation, improve mental health, and cultivate resilience. Whether working with individuals or large organizations, our goal is to reach a wider audience, making the benefits of animal, equine and outdoor transformative programs accessible to all. |

Empowering all Individuals
As human beings, we each possess unique capabilities, strengths, fears, worries, and insecurities, regardless of our background, culture, or upbringing. We are committed to welcoming participants from all walks of life, striving to empower individuals to reach their fullest potential without judgment. With extensive experience working with children, teens, young adults, and mature participants, we proudly offer inclusive services with no age restrictions and a welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Our team has experience supporting individuals with a wide range of needs, including mental health challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), intellectual differences, stress and anxiety disorders, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other mental and physical challenges. During your intake meeting, please share your specific goals and needs, and we will collaborate with you to tailor our programs to bring out your best. While our team has significant experience in these areas, please note that not all of our staff are qualified mental health professionals, therapists, or allied health workers. However, we do have a qualified Lead Facilitator (qualified counselor) available for on-site bookings. Our team is also dedicated to ongoing professional development through additional study, certifications, and accreditations. We encourage you to maintain close collaboration with your broader professional support team, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners (GPs), occupational therapists (OTs), physiotherapists, and speech therapists, to ensure the best outcomes from our sessions. Additionally, we welcome reports and assessments from other therapists, as we can often integrate relevant exercises, activities, and strategies into our programs. |
Our targeted, goal-oriented programs focus on social-emotional learning, psychoeducation, life skills, independence, relationship building, and enhancing social participation.
Our programs incorporate a variety of modalities, providing a holistic approach to personal growth and development. While animals play a crucial role in helping us connect with another living being, regulate our emotions and timing, and cultivate patience and kindness, we also focus on a broader range of benefits, including social skills and relationship-building. By working with animals, engaging in outdoor activities, and using creative methods, participants develop essential skills like observing and listening without immediate reaction, fostering empathy, and receiving honest, non-judgmental feedback.
Beyond the foundational benefits of animal interactions, our programs also focus on enhancing fine and gross motor skills, improving communication and observation abilities, reducing stress and anxiety, and building self-confidence. Social skills and relationship-building are key components of our sessions, which are designed to empower participants to form meaningful connections with others while gaining self-awareness and emotional regulation.
We offer both individual and group sessions, ensuring personalized attention and support. Our team is led by a highly qualified Lead Facilitator with expertise in life skills, coaching, counselling, NDIS/disability training, and other certifications, providing tailored, high-quality programs. Session pricing is determined by the facilitator's qualifications and the type of service offered, ensuring a customized experience for each participant.
